Principal Electrical Engineer - Power Generation Products

Aviation Ground Equipment Corp. (AGEC) is seeking a hands-on Principal Electrical Engineer, to lead our power generation products. This role is a key leadership role within our engineering department responsible for electrical subsystem product vision and systems engineering for our entire product line. Our power generation products are ground up custom developed where the power conversion and power generation subsystems are designed to precise and detailed customer specifications. Designs include sophisticated onboard control subsystems that leverage custom embedded firmware/software as well as HMI interfaces..

AGEC is a rapidly growing developer and manufacturer of commercial and military power generation and control equipment supporting military aircraft with Ground Support Equipment (GSE). What you will do:

  • Provide technical leadership for systems development of all AGEC power generation and power conversion products spanning 10kW – 200kW power levels, serving as a key interface with customers and business leadership.
  • Maintain a detailed, up-to-date understanding of power generation and power conversion technologies, translating technical knowledge into competitive product strategy and long-term development vision.
  • Lead system level architecture and controls integration, defining controls logic and HMI architecture while directing and interfacing with embedded software engineering.
  • Provide technical leadership while also performing hands-on, detailed design of power conversion and power quality components, including specialty transformers and custom magnetics for high-power systems up to 200 kW.
  • Perform systems engineering for power conversion subsystems utilizing modern IGBT-based active front-end (AFE) architectures.
  • Support AC and DC power systems, including 400 Hz and 270 VDC specialty subsystems.
  • Conduct hands-on hardware testing and system validation, ensuring all detailed performance and compliance requirements are met.
  • Utilize logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and related diagnostic tools for troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Work extensively in lab and production environments involving high-power electrical systems.
  • Serve as an electrical systems leader ensuring product performance, cost and scheduled objectives are achieved.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to develop high-quality, customer driven solutions that align with internal requirements.
  • Support the new product development lifecycle, from concept and architecture through design, validation, production and product support.
  • Lead the successful transition of new designs into production, ensuring manufacturability, quality and long-term reliability.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis on electrical power systems minimum. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience developing standalone, high-power conversion and generation systems.
  • Experienced Systems Engineer with demonstrated leadership driving engineering teams to desire design output.
  • An inherent demeanor of technical ownership & sense of urgency.
  • Possess a natural charisma for communicating product capabilities and technical vision to leadership as well as customers.
  • Highly skilled with ground up power systems product development.
  • Excels in small business, swift pace, and holistic technical work environment.
  • Hands-on from concept through validation testing.
  • Background with military or government product development and contracting is beneficial, but not required.
  • Enlisted military background is beneficial but not required.
  • Air Force with ground support equipment experience is a plus.
  • Travel 5-10%
